My Story

I worked with much pleasure on this mega project. Tried to make the life of Mata Hari
in 9 room boxes, in miniature scale 1 /12 (one inch scale ) From her birth until her death.

In the year 2000 I visited the Fries Museum for a exhibition , and ran up against the Mata Hari room. Everything in the room with the gentle music, the photograph, brought me on the idea, for once make a dancing Mata Hari doll. For years a built museum dolls houses etc. in miniature, but did never so much with dolls.

Nevertheless there was something with these woman, found her this way splendid and impressing, thought of her each day!!! Once at home I sit the next day behind my computer, typed Mata Hari, and found everything, photograph of concerning the complete world. Among which of the Fries Museum, printed everything .The next summer on path with my oldest daughter Melissa. And we all bldg. of its birth found house (... the guarding shop below were, however, gone...)etc., which with its youth what to do had had. It was for me one sunny day to never forget !

Many research were necessary for my projects, this way truthful possible leave come, during make of my projects. Because that it will not be at that one headstock remain for me already fast clear.

Mata Hari became a passion of me, yes I saw already me, Mata Hari's as a type of three-dimensional in miniature biography to put down.

I bought books and films, but came there already fast that I had pay attention then also good what truth was and fiction , certainly as yourself the tale not well knows! Visits also many paid museums, thus came I there for example in Bronbeek behind what the colours of MacLeod (..husband of Margaretha...)warren for its uniform at the KNIL. after for making. Already with already I have after 5 years with a lot of interest, pleasure, en emotions worked to the bldg., dolls make, flowers, etc..

Totally there are 9 show barges made.

• The cellars with then the shop of her father Adam Zelle.
• Her wedding with Mac-Leod.
• A scene at the photographer.
• Dancing action in a private salon.
• Haar dansoptreden in een privé salon.
• A boudoir with her lover Vadime the Massloff.
• Her arrest.
• The cell in Saint Lazare.
• And finally her execution.
